MSI U135-411US 10-Inch Blue Netbook - 7.5 Hour Battery Life

MSI U135-411US 10-Inch Blue Netbook - 7.5 Hour Battery Life Review

I almost jumped on the Asus bandwagon...until MSI came out with this netbook. The U135 is basically an improved version of the MSI wind 100 series. Chicklet style keyboard, bigger touchpad, and a 250gb hard drive. It comes with 1gb of intergrated ram and an extra slot if you want to upgrade (I used 1gb crucial memory; just need to unscrew the entire bottom panel...wont void the warrenty either)

This is my first netbook purchase and I am extremely pleased. All 10" netbooks have the same specs across the board so it really comes down to looks in my opinion. I didnt want an all black computer, or an all white one for that matter. I originally wanted this netbook in Red but could only find the 3 cell model with 160gb. So I ended up with blue. This netbook feels really soild, and the color is quite pleasing. Surprisingly it isnt a fingerprint magnet either. The 10" screen is bright and looks excellent from all viewing angles. I am able to touch type on this keyboard with ease and I have a full period and comma unlike some other netbooks where they are half sized. Using the function key for everything takes some getting use to but I'm welcoming the change. The trackpad and single mouse button are very nice. In order to scroll one must tap on the touchpad instead of sliding your finger on the edge...I actually prefer this way. My Hp trackpad is always malfunctioning with regards to scrolling along the side.

Battery life is probably this netbooks' weakness. Thats what appealed to me about the Asus 1005pe. 9+ hours of battery life would of been great compared to about 5hrs on here, but thats ample for my needs (college) and if push comes to shove I can always find an outlet.

I went ahead and upgraded from windows 7 starter to home premium and everything runs smoothly except Facebook games which run extremely slowwwww so I'll have to give that up but I knew what I was purchasing and its limitations so Im not disappointed.

This netbook comes with the hard drive partitioned in two. But with the help of a very well written Asus review I was able to change it into one 222gb hard drive without the help of third party software. It also doesnt come preloaded with a bunch of bloatware.

I hope I didnt leave out anything...all in all this is an excellent choice if your in the market for a netbook. If battery life is a major deciding factor for you then this may not be the best choice. I would highly recommend it otherwise.

THAT'S LIFE laserdisc Overview

Movie DescriptionPerhaps the closest that Blake Edwards has come to making a personal film, THAT'S LIFE! stars Jack Lemmon as Harvey Fairchild, an architect confronting his mortality. As the weekend on which Harvey's family will gather to celebrate his 60th birthday approaches, there is apparently nothing that can erase the angst that is devouring him. Despite his wealth, a happy marriage, and healthy and prosperous children, he's plagued by the idea that his life has been a failure. He believes his work has been compromised by kowtowing to ignorant clients, that his children have little love for him, and, with growing hypochondria, that he's on the verge of death. His long-suffering wife, Gillian (Julie Andrews), tries to coax him out of his depression without telling him that she is being tested for cancer. Refusing to seek therapy, Harvey calls on his former roommate at Notre Dame, now a Catholic priest (Robert Loggia), but finds him enmeshed in his own problems; he also visits a fortune-teller (Felicia Farr) who displays considerably more insight into the architect's plight than did the clergyman. A film financed by Edwards, cowritten with his psychiatrist, and performed by friends and relatives who improvised part of their dialogue, the film's uncertain tone is mitigated by some sharp observations on upper-crust life, a few very funny scenes, and a completely committed performance by Lemmon.CreditsCast: Jack Lemmon, Julie AndrewsDirector: Blake EdwardsSynopsisThis human comedy by Blake Edwards stars Jack Lemmon as Harvey Fairchild, a wealthy architect struggling with a severe case of male menopause at the approach of his 60th birthday. Blake's wife, Julie Andrews, plays Harvey's sympathetic spouse. Filmed at the director's Malibu residence, the film includes many of his friends and family members. Academy Award Nominations: Best Song ("Life in a Looking Glass").

Sony VAIO VPC-W211AX/L 10.1-Inch Blue Netbook - Up to 8 Hours of Battery Life

Sony VAIO VPC-W211AX/L 10.1-Inch Blue Netbook - Up to 8 Hours of Battery Life Review

The first impression is its nice appearance. I've never had any netbooks before but this product from sony is quite satisfactory. The speed is acceptable. Still some people argued with the windows 7 starter edition but I would say it's designed for light computing and web surfing and it actually does a good job on these things. If you are looking for a second pc (or laptop) and this one might fit your need. However if you expect it for primary use then it might disappoint you. To share my personal use, I have a mac desktop at home and that serves as my primary computer. And when I go outside I only bring this little tiny creature with me. As long as the internet access is available I can always connect back to my home desktop and use some remote desktop to do whatever heavy tasks on the main computer. And if you really dislike windows, I'd recommend you to try ubuntu, a free linux os. I'm currently having dual systems on this vaio and honestly I'm on ubuntu most of the time. The system interface is neat and very efficient in doing those less heavy things. Also if you're worried about whether one GB RAM is enough to run win 7, using ubuntu can definitely be a nice alternative.
